Cory has been practicing for over 17 years as a Board-Certified Physician Assistant, licensed in the states of GA, FL, NC, and SC. He has practiced in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care Medicine, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine.
After graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Mars Hill University, he then attended East Tennessee State University for a Masters Degree in Biology, which prepared him for his first career as a High School Biology teacher (North Buncombe High School in Asheville, NC) and (Soccer, Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Snowboarding) coach.
Finally, he followed his love of Science and earned an additional Masters of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies from South University in 2007.
Cory’s career as a Physician Assistant has allowed him to practice in multiple fields of medicine as well as provide him the opportunity to own and manage Healthcare facilities. In 2013, he used the knowledge gained from working in 5 past Urgent Care centers over 8 years to be able to develop, organize and then open his own Urgent Care. As the CEO and with the assistance of Sarah Barfield, they were able to grow that business into 4 locations over 7 years.
Covid-19 changed much for the future of Urgent Care and with the introduction of Telemedicine, he feels that the future of Urgent Care will move to primarily Virtual visits for many presenting symptoms.
Cory is blessed with a wonderful wife, Sylwia and two great kids, Victor and Scarlett. Sylwia is a successful Realtor with Echo Fine Properties and very active in the tennis community as she played Division 1 trained with Nick Bollettieri , and is currently playing in various leagues in Palm Beach County, Florida.

His journey in Emergency Medicine is fueled by a passion for taking the best care of patients and making, sometimes, split-second decisions that can significantly impact lives. Beyond the Emergency Department and Urgent Care center, Dr. Rice is devoted to teaching on the job, educating on preventative care, and promoting health and safety. Committed to the art and science of healing, he stands ready to respond to the unpredictable nature of emergency medical situations with skill, empathy, and unwavering dedication.
Lauren is a native of South Georgia and has been practicing step-down critical nursing for over 7 years. She is now transitioning into the nurse practitioner role after pursuing higher education.
Originally, Lauren graduated from Armstrong State University (now known as Georgia Southern University) with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. After graduation, she began working as a staff nurse at a local hospital in Savannah, GA where she continues her nursing career as a charge nurse. After a few years of staff nursing, Lauren decided to go back for graduate school at Georgia Southern University to complete the Master’s of Science in Nursing, with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner. During this time, Lauren gained clinical skills and knowledge in primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, and plastic surgery. Shortly after graduating the program, Lauren became board certified as a licensed family nurse practitioner.
Outside of work, Lauren resides in a small town outside of Savannah, GA with her husband and their two dogs. She enjoys traveling, watching her husband coach little league football, going to church, and spending time with her husband and family.
Heidi Paquette, FNP-C, hails from Millington, Tennessee, and spent her upbringing as a Navy Brat, traversing the globe. She holds a BSN from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, and completed her Masters degree in 2018 at South University in Savannah, Georgia.
With an unwavering dedication to helping others and boasting over 15 years of medical expertise, Heidi enriches Urgent Care by Phone with a deep reservoir of knowledge. Her journey commenced as an RN in the Emergency Room, subsequently venturing across Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care units, along with stints in Mother Baby care. Presently, she serves as a nurse practitioner, specializing in Nephrology and Hypertension Management, with a focus on patients battling chronic kidney disease. Heidi’s earlier experiences extend into Regenerative Medicine, cementing her commitment to holistic patient understanding, beyond mere disease management.
Advocating for patient-centered care, Heidi tirelessly champions her patients’ voices, ensuring they comprehend the nuances of their medical and wellness choices. As a military spouse and mother of three, Heidi perceives service as integral to existence, frequently volunteering within the Army community in Savannah, Georgia.

Tram Contreras, a dedicated Physician Assistant with nearly seven years of experience, has spent four years specializing in cardiology and nearly three years in urgent care. Alongside her medical career, Tram is also a passionate beauty enthusiast, skilled in permanent makeup and venturing into injection procedures. Her greatest joy comes from helping others heal and improve, both as a PA and a beauty practitioner. Beyond her professional endeavors, Tram is a proud mother of three: Chloe, Emily, and Oliver.
Dr. Taylor is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with over 16 years of experience. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 2001 and earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2006. Following this, he completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 2009. Throughout his career, Dr. Taylor has been committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient care across a wide range of healthcare conditions. In addition to his extensive clinical experience, he has dedicated over 8 years to the education of medical students and residents serving as clinical faculty of Emergency Medicine at NOVA Southeastern University and
Associate Clinical Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Florida Atlantic University.For the past 5 years, Dr. Taylor has also served as the emergency services Medical Director of a two-hospital system in South Florida, where he spearheaded process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience, healthcare quality, and core measures compliance. His extensive background in both emergency medical practice and medical education has equipped him/her with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality care in multiple modalities including telemedicine and urgent care. He is committed to ensuring patients receive timely and compassionate care in every clinical setting.
Jared is highly competent with treatment and management of both acute and chronic illnesses which includes urgent care medicine, family medicine and internal medicine.
He also has advanced experience with treatment and management of fractures, dislocation, trigger point injection, arthrocentesis, and dislocation reduction, splinting and x-ray interpretations.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with all patients regarding case management and patient education. Focus on patient experience, comfort in medical care patient is receiving, and shared medical decision making.
